In more than a decade of conscious living conferences and retreats with parents and practitioners around the country, I’ve witnessed repeatedly that when it is time to put into practice all that we’ve acknowledged is true—and to embrace the wisdom we’ve carried in our hearts all along—there’s one burning question on everyone’s mind: How can we find the information and support we need to make the practical, daily choices to create wellness in our families? The answer, from leaders, authors, and parents who’ve succeeded is this: get connected.

Today, with the airways over our heads humming with tweets and texting, getting connected seems easy. However, the quality of connection required to build a solid foundation for informed choice making must be envisioned by practitioners and parents who intentionally reach out to one another to create a supportive and resourceful conscious living community. When this conscious connection happens, the impact on everyone - practitioner, parent, child, and the planet we share - is profound and lifelong.

The Holistic Pediatric Alliance, HPA, acknowledges that daily conscious living - with connection to information and support - is the pathway to family wellness. Through partnerships with likeminded nonprofits, the HPAis quickly emerging as an organizing, central network for practitioners of all modalities - especially those who see themselves as community wellness leaders. In October 2010, the HPA, in collaboration with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and Pathways to Family Wellness magazine, hosted a groundbreaking summit in Washington, DC, with over 600 participants and 30 speakers, including Bruce Lipton, PhD, Joe Dispenza, DC, Ina May Gaskin and Joseph Chilton Pearce. The Freedom for Family Wellness Summit put into motion a wave of networking opportunities and project collaborations between consciousness leaders, organizations and parents who are working together and expanding the resources and support for family wellness.

Because HPA understands the growing need for connection and community, our vision is to provide holistic practitioners, who wish to be wellness leaders in their communities, with the turnkey tools to connect with parents and together, create an empowering conscious living community. Through collaboration with likeminded nonprofits, and the dynamic magazine Pathways to Family Wellness, the Pathways Connect program is proud to bring the news, insights, connective and transformative energy of the expanding consciousness movement to its Gathering Group facilitators and members.

In a nutshell, Pathways Connect provides a practitioner with simple, turn-key tools and materials, including an instructional Gathering Guide, designed to jump start a self-directed Gathering Group. The quarterly Dialogue Questions and Resource Guides, that accompany each issue of the magazine, are thoughtfully created to help groups actively engage in “paradigm shifting”: shifting our thinking out of the fear and dependency of the industrial worldview’s disease model of health and toward the confidence and sustainability of the wholeness and wellness made possible within a holistic worldview. The truth is, everything we need to create wellness for families exists; the practical tools of Pathways Connect helps us connect with those myriad resources and human support in a safe setting of like-minded families.
